This is the beginning of a piece inspired by the poem, "The Rime of the Ancient Mariner," by Samuel Taylor Coleridge.
If you are familiar with the poem, you will recognize Life-in-Death, and her mate, Death. There are also 'slimy things of the sea' behind them.
